For over three decades, Pie in the Sky Pizza has served the locals of Mooresville, North Carolina. In order to better continue their service, the beloved pizzeria is relocating to a larger venue. The owners selected a local former cleaning facility as their new home, which will undergo renovations, transforming it into a retro-inspired dining space as a homage to their humble beginnings. The renovation was guided by the principles of preservation and reverence for local heritage, seeking to highlight and celebrate the architectural features of the building, such as its zig-zag roof structure and masonry shell. The expanded footprint of the new location will include ample room for bar seating and outdoor patio dining. On the interior, the bar serves as a subtle partition between guests and staff, allowing the sights, smells, and sounds to be part of the dining experience. Retro lighting fixtures and materials such as subway tile further reinforce the aesthetic, contributing to the nostalgic atmosphere at the heart of Pie in the Sky's enduring appeal.
