Asheville Outlets, a thriving 325,000 SF Outlet Center in Asheville, North Carolina, is the successful redevelopment of the former Biltmore Square Mall. When New England Development and Tremont Realty Partners decided to transform this enclosed mall into an outdoor outlet shopping center, they chose Adams + Associates Architecture because of our experience in large retail and complex renovation projects. Our project team performed an up-front analysis including coordinating as-built conditions, assessing the structural soundness during demolition, identifying sections of walls and roof that were not up to industry standards for energy efficiency, budgeting to account for additional resources, such as a third-party onsite structural engineer to test and provide structure safety reports throughout construction, and 3D scan of the existing structure when no drawings were available in certain areas.
